Daniel B%26#039;s answer is a flat out lie. The only way your account number is recorded anywhere on the check is if YOU put it there. I have personally worked in every stage of check processing. We don%26#039;t have time to record ANY numbers that are not already on the check. Report It

I highly doubt it. That would be a security risk.

Some banks do. I work at Bank of America and I see it all the time. However as long as someone doesn%26#039;t have the expiration date you are fine since you need it to do a CC transaction. The account number is just one piece of the pie.

BTW by working in the world of banking I can tell you there is NO way to prevent identity theft. It%26#039;s like alot of things in life it either happens or doesn%26#039;t.
