I had readers digest falsely charge me for %26quot;free%26quot; gifts, so the collections went after me..but this was a few years ago when I was 17 yearsold.

Apartment complex crimminal check. How long do they take for those results?

About six years ago my boyfriend was charged with statutory rape (sex with a minor with her consent). We are now renting an apartment they did credit check and we both passed. When we got the credit report back it said PENDING background check. I asked the lady do we get a report of that and she said no its just to make sure your not a crimminal on the run and she laughed. We did all this paper work on Monday. We are due to move in tomorrow. Tomorrow we have to go in sign all the papers. They have not called us from the apartment complex telling us that they found a record. Would they tell this to us tomorrow. Will it even show if it was years ago. Right now we are going to court supposely for not registering as a sex offender on time when he did. If you are wondering who that girl was it was me. I am now 19 soon to be 20 and we are happy together!

Wouldn%26#039;t they have called us already to let us know they found something in his record? How long does it take for results to come back?

Apartment complex crimminal check. How long do they take for those results?

If you didn%26#039;t register it may not come up, but it can. Computers are very fast. The question is whether they submitted the request or not, yet. Bring the actual paperwork showing your name as the %26#039;victim%26#039; and they will likely not have a problem with it since you are now of age. However, ...... six years ago you were 13 and if you have been together all of that time, I don%26#039;t even like to think about it.

Apartment complex crimminal check. How long do they take for those results?

my question is why are you with this man in my experience your life with him will be hard !!

yes you love him but there are men who dont have such problems...rape is a serious charge its onlt going to get worse....

sorry to be negative but I dont think your family would really approve of this man do you ??

Is he really tellin g the truth about his past??

What do I need to have to get a credit card? And the credit companies say I dont exist!?

Ok to explain everything. I want this job, this job runs a credit check and there is no me. I dont have credit or a credit card at all (I%26#039;m 18). But I dont even exist in the system (experian and the other two). I have a bank account and have had at least two other jobs before this, so how is this possible?

So, I%26#039;m going to try and get a credit card, is there anything I need? Like proof of whatever?

What do I need to have to get a credit card? And the credit companies say I dont exist!?

Talk to your bank manager.

What do I need to have to get a credit card? And the credit companies say I dont exist!?

I wouldn%26#039;t get in the habit of using credit, especially since you are young. You can talk with your interviewer and inform them that you don%26#039;t use credit (debt, really).

Since you are young I would encourage you to get in to the habit of using your own money for everything you buy. A credit score is NOT an indication of your wealth or ability to pay. Some millionaires have low credits scores, or scores of 0. This is because they don%26#039;t use debt to buy things, they use their own money. Your FICO credit scrore will eventually go to 0 if you stop using debt. I plan on having mine go to 0 too.

Sure, there are some things you may not be able to do (like get certain jobs, or live at certain places) but it is much better than being broke because of debt.

What do I need to have to get a credit card? And the credit companies say I dont exist!?

Credit cards are an important means of establishing credit history. Using them responsibly, controlling your spending habits and not misusing them will always help the cause. Here are few things to keep in mind before you apply for a credit card.

It is always better to use a credit card which is issued in your name. The simple reason being, it helps establish credit history for you. Use the correct identity, and get credit card issued for proper name, social security number, and address.

Decide what type of credit card you need and don%26#039;t get impulsive about obtaining it. Have patience and compare various offers that suit your choice.

The APR of credit card is a very important point not to be missed by any credit card owner. There are various types of APRs, like the 0 intro APR, regular APR, APR for cash advances, APR for purchases, APR for balance transfer etc. These APR contro what interest you pay on your credit card outstanding balances. Get compelte idea about the APRs that will affect you during your credit card ownership.

If you are getting a reward credit card, make sure you know how the rewards will be redeemed and using the credit card at what locations or merchants will help you get the maximum reward benefits. Another thing to watch out is the limitations to the reward program. Check carefully about what limits the rewards like minimum reward points, blackout dates, redemption locations, choice of airlines etc.

How does everyone have better credit than me but no one has a clue how they got it?

1. How many times is too many times? Once a month? Twice a year?

2. How many points does each credit check take off?

3. How do you extend your credit limit on a credit card? Do you just wait for it to automatically go up or do you have to call the company and request it?

4. If you have the answers to these questions, how and where did you get them? No one seems to have a clue and always giving me answers that never make sense.

How does everyone have better credit than me but no one has a clue how they got it?

Answers to your questions:

1. I%26#039;m assuming you%26#039;re talking about how often you should check your credit. I would say at leat every 6 months. Checking your own credit will not lower your score.

If you suspect you%26#039;re at risk for identity theft, you%26#039;ll want to check it more often.

If you are planning to buy a home or car, you%26#039;ll want to keep a close eye on it, as well.

2. I%26#039;ve heard conflicting advice on that. I%26#039;ve heard 2 points each time. But I don%26#039;t think that%26#039;s correct. If you%26#039;re applying for credit left and right, you%26#039;re going to look like you%26#039;re desperate. Lenders don%26#039;t want to see a bunch of inquiries on your credit report.

3. Call the credit card company and ask. If you have been a good customer they may be willing to raise your limits.

4. Where did I get these answers? I%26#039;m a mortgage loan officer. I specialize in loans for people with credit problems. I don%26#039;t like just turning people down and telling them to have a nice life. So, I decided to educate myself about credit. That way instead of just telling my clients that I can%26#039;t approve them, I can tell them what they need to do to improve their credit, so I can approve them in the future. I%26#039;ve read tons of books, articles, etc. Plus, I%26#039;ve been through it myself. My credit was pretty bad at one point.

I%26#039;ve also written a few articles about credit scoring that you may find helpful:

pay all bills on time you will get credit sooner or later

How does everyone have better credit than me but no one has a clue how they got it?

Your FICO score is based upon your credit history, plus how much available credit you have. Having too much available credit will ding your score, but unfortunately I don%26#039;t know how much is too much.

You can check your credit report once a year for free. Anymore than that and the credit agencies will charge you. Credit checks will take a few points off your score, but again I don%26#039;t know how much.

I think if you did some research on one of the major credit agency websites you could get specific answers to your questions. I think there is a website called myfico.com where you can order your score plus find out some valuable information.

I have a credit score around 800 - I have never paid a bill late (that will really ding your score, even if you%26#039;ve only done it once or twice). And I%26#039;ve had a wide variety of credit like student loans, car loans, mortgage and revolving credit cards. Since I%26#039;ve paid them alll on time, my score is high.

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

I would like to request a copy of my credit report from one of the credit reporting companys to see my score. Does it affect my credit the same as it would if a lendor ran a credit check?

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

No. Only multiple applications for a credit line in a short time will affect your score.

While it is true that you are entitled to one free credit report from each of the 3 bureaus (Trans Union, Equifax, Experian) every 12 months, your credit report does not list your credit SCORE.

To obtain your score, you will be required to pay a small fee (usually less than $10). Be advised that credit scores are not fixed and change fairly regularly depending on how much you use and pay off credit like cards and/or loans. It is worth the price to determine if you haven%26#039;t checked your score in the last year.

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

No.

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

Absolutely not

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

no. do it online its free

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

You are intitled to one per year.

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

No.

You can get all three free (once a year) at

www.annualcreditreport.com

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

nope.

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

No, absolutely not. You are allowed 1 per year.

Typically, this is used as a %26quot;scare-tactic%26quot; to ensure that you don%26#039;t go to another vendor.

Go online, they have numerous sites that offer free credit reports.

Does asking for a copy of your credit report affect your FICO score?

If you go through one of the three reporting credit agencies, it will not negatively affect your FICO score. However, if you go through a broker, bank, or any other financial institution then it is an inquiry. However, having one or two inquiries most likely will not lower your score. Excessive inquires can lower your credit score.

The earlier comment of that you receive one per year is in reference to a free credit report. However, these free reports do not show your credit scores.

On an application to rent a house it wants "credit references." What do I list?

I%26#039;m assuming they want credit accounts listed, but which ones? There are only three spaces and I have plenty more than that. Do I try and list the ones that I have always been on time with payments? Or the credit cards with zero balances? Or loans through my credit union? My student loans? What would be the best to help us be accept to rent this home?

Or do they want something completely different there?

Also, aren%26#039;t they going to run a credit check anyway? Why do I need to list %26quot;credit references%26quot; if they are just going to verify it?

On an application to rent a house it wants %26quot;credit references.%26quot; What do I list?

Your second paragraph speaks to the point that they%26#039;re going to check your credit anyway - so you%26#039;re right in thinking the credit references on the application are more a formality than anything. I%26#039;d recommend you list things for which you are currently indebted, such as car loans, student loans, and the like - and for which you are on time.

At least as important to a potential landlord or property manager in my opinion are good prior rental references. The combination of timely payment on your credit obligations and favorable references from folks who have rented to you and can vouch for you first-hand are an unbeatable combination.
