What's Involved In A Background Check?

We all know what a credit check is.

But I don%26#039;t know anyone who%26#039;s seen their background check.

Can a employer or creditor do it without your knowledge?

Can there be heresy items listed such as you are suspected of being gay, but you don%26#039;t acknowledge it publicly.

Where does a person or company get one and how is the information collected?

What%26#039;s Involved In A Background Check?

Depends on what level of security the company places you in.

Routine, as are most jobs, it would be employment verification, Credit Bureau%26#039;s ( these also verify previous addresses and show them your credit worthiness ) and possibly references.

An %26quot;internal%26quot; could involve a Field Investigator personally visiting employers and even neighbors.

It is not ethical to be done if you have not signed releases and authorizations, but it does happen. They just don%26#039;t have to tell you they did it.

Not sure what you mean by %26quot;heresy%26quot;......%26quot;hear say%26quot;????

Only on the internal, which might be dropped by a neighbor or a friend. There are certain areas the investigation considers %26quot;gray%26quot; while others are considered compromising.

It depends on what position you are applying for.

Note: You are entitled to review your personnel jacket and all its contents, while under administrative supervision. This gives you the chance to challenge any erroneous info.

What%26#039;s Involved In A Background Check?

The only time an employer can do a background check on you would have to be with your consent (and they are usually limited to government jobs). In order for them to do one, they would need a specific form signed by you saying that you consent to them doing a background search on you. They will then visit city police departments of which cities you have resided/worked in. The only thing that will pop up in a local background check would be if you were ever involved in a traffic accident (and there was a police report), you ever received a ticket, were ever a witness, victim, contact, or suspect in a case, or if you were ever arrested. There would most likely not be any heresay items, unless for some reason they were noted in the specific police report and pertained to part of the report.

Hopefully this was helpful.

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

my mother 2days ago requested a free credit check... she lied online and she pretened to be me online so she could see my credit. is this allowed since she lied without my permission???

what legal rights do i have to take against her... im 18 btw

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

No, she can%26#039;t. No one is authorized to see your credit info except you or someone you authorize to see it. If you apply for a loan or credit card, when you sign the papers, you actually authorize the to do a credit check.

You have a choice here. You can report her, in which case she%26#039;d probably get into some sort of trouble. Or you can tell her it was illegal and tell her if she EVER does such a thing again, you WILL report her and follow through on your threat.

I%26#039;m not sure who you report her to but my guess is you%26#039;d have to go to the police and press charges, in which case, you%26#039;d need to provide proof that she did it. Or check with your state attorney generals office. They all have identity theft offices these days. And maybe if your mother just THINKS you are reporting her, it will scare the hell out of her.

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo its not allowed, its fraud!!!!!

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

No she does not...My mother was like that when I was younger as well. You need to tell her to mind her own business and then tell her how would she like if you looked at hers.

good luck

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

dont worry..........

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

No, your mother cannot look up your credit info without your permission. What she did is illegal. One day your snooping mom could get in really big trouble if she keeps this up and gets caught. You are an adult now and should assert yourself more.

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

Im having the same problem, not legal, my friend. All you have to do is, to report it to the athouritys and they%26#039;ll do the rest, but if they started your account and credit card, your out of luck. Really, what can you do if they started for you and they did it for you and to help you spend your money so you dont run out... because money doesn%26#039;t grow on trees.. lol .lol lol. if you know what I mean. lol lol lol

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

First of all that would be called identity theft, so she committed a crime. She is not allowed to do that parent or not, you are of legal adult age (18). So you can press any charges you wish against her. That is your business not hers. If you guys are having a problem work it out, going behind someones back is not the right thing to do.

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

Nlo she can not do that

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

Tell your mother to back off and report her. Search online about companies that deal with identity theft. I do hope that she does it again so that way you can have proof. If you don%26#039;t want her to do it again, move out.

Is my mother allowed to look up my credit history with out me knowing?

Brother ignor all the people that said no way she can%26#039;t do that...First of all she is your mom...Talk with her about this and don%26#039;t get crazy..If you go off then you have more then a problem of mom being nosy..You%26#039;ll have trouble thats not needed..Here%26#039;s why...Lets assume im your up and coming landlord..I could check your credit history,how about a loan officer at a bank?..She could too...How about..car dealership?...I could go on and on...Plus if your living home,who%26#039;s roof is that..Yours..or the parents..OH yea that mortgage they got to pay for that.Trust me the bank did a credit check on them as well...So a piece of advice from a hot headed Italian...Stay calm,ask questions..and be straight forward with mom..They will respect you and give up answers to your questions about this...Even if you don%26#039;t like the answers because your a hot headed%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

My wife and I recently purchased a new car from a reputable dealer. We had gone to two different dealers to negotiate, and ending up purchasing at the second dealer.

During negotiations, we were surprised that our sales rep at *both* dealers asked to take our credit card with them to show their manager with our offer. This happened after the 2nd or 3rd round of negotiating, and in both cases we refused.

Both reps said they wanted the card to show their manager that we were serious about purchasing.

It%26#039;s been 7 years since we last bought a new car, and at that time we weren%26#039;t asked for our card. I%26#039;m curious: why are dealers asking for them nowadays? Is it a negotiating ploy? Do they try to secretly conduct a credit check without permission (they already had our name %26amp; address)?

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

I have never heard of this - and I don%26#039;t even see the point. Anyone can whip out some credit card and it doesn%26#039;t even have to be working or it could be max out for all the know!

I have only heard of them doing a credit check.

What%26#039;s next? THey ask to see your birth certificate and high school diploma? lol

You did the right thing!

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

no secret they run a credit check...card makes it easyer 4 them...just harder without it...hard to run check with just name and address...

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

They don%26#039;t ask me. Lay down 20 one thousand dollar bills on the table and tell them there%26#039;s a lot of other dealers around if they%26#039;re not ready to deal.

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

that%26#039;s a new one on me.

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

Running a credit check tells the dealer what type of interest rate to charge you. a little sloppy on the credit report means higher interest.

But then when it comes down to signing remember you can always walk away.

Dealers I buy from are real butts about telling me the interest rate up front. I like to get that understood soon. I got a great deal on My pick up, They wouldn%26#039;t tell me the interest rate until I went into the finance dudes office then I had a great price on the truck and 11.5% interest. I literally laughed at the guy and said you are kiddin%26#039; right!

I said I will sign for no more than 4% and I left. later that afternoon I got a call that said how about 4.6% OH Gee that was hard wasn%26#039;t it.

REMEMBER THE LINE----WALK AWAY FROM THE DEALER If they can they will call you back if not go get the car somewhere else!

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

I have been in the automotive business for 15 years, and served in every aspect of the dealership. I can tell you that this is a method to test your seriousness in the vehicle that you are purchasing. This is an old method based on logic. If a customer is willing to hand over their credit card during negotiations, then they are a serious buyer. Plus, you will not leave if they are still holding it. In negotiations, sometimes a sales representative will not be able to tell if a customer is sincere, or discover their objection to purchasing. If the customer does not hand them a credit card, they will usually state their objection right away...%26quot;wait, I don%26#039;t even know if you can get the $400 payment or not for me!%26quot; or %26quot;wait, you have not even told me what my trade is worth!%26quot; This helps get to the root of the issue and bypasses lengthy unproductive measures. No, you can not do a credit check using a credit card alone.

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

During negotiations dealers, (salespeople) attempt to qualify the customer. If they sense that credit may be an issue they want to know so; they dont waste their time, they are assured that you can afford the choice your buying, and that they can work a deal that is beneficial to them regarding maximum profit. As far as taking your card it a good faith effort on your behalf. The salesman usually will ask for a cash good faith deposit or a check. With a credit card he can swipe your card for the agreed upon deposit if the manager accepts the offer. The card itself wont allow the dealer to check your credit but a name and address will. BUT, they are not allowed to access your credit file without your permission. In the past I have presented offers to management with unusual tokens of good faith. Ive taken watches many times, rings, a camera, and most unusual..the couples 3 year old daughter. Often this is done in jest and is part of building a trusting, relaxed, and sometimes humorous relationship with the customer. Whatever it takes! Its best to carry a hundred dollar bill with you to present with the offer. Have you ever tried to make an offer on a house without a good faith deposit? Cant do it. The good faith deposit is a signal to the dealer that if they take the offer negotiations are over. Car sold. Incidently, dealers know to never accept a customers offer. An accepted offer often leaves the customer feeling that he/she offered too much. So a gentle bump to a higher price than the offer is the norm and makes the deal less apt to back up and fall apart.

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

I happened to be privy to a dealership during a patron%26#039;s purchase of a new vehicle under financial duress. The dealer was contacting the credit card companies...and asking how much %26quot;balance%26quot; was on each card so that the maximum down payment could be afforded on her purchase of their vehicle.

Does that answer your question sufficiently?

She had a couple hundred on MC and about a thousand %26quot;left%26quot; on VISA. They determined that she could pay up to her maximum on both accounts and have enough to make the down payment on the vehicle she had selected.

Now...what I wondered was whether or not the amount of negotiated %26quot;payment%26quot; was including or excluding the increases on each of the cards being used to %26quot;meet the minimum down payment%26quot; requirements for a sale.

We got ours repaired instead of selecting a new vehicle.

Amounts used in the antecdote above are inaccurate...I did not memorize the amounts...just the principle involved.

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

No, they don%26#039;t run a credit check or anything like that when they ask for it. They ask %26quot;to take the credit card with your offer%26quot; to the sales manager for two reasons:

1.If you%26#039;re raking the sales person over the coals trying to get the absolute best deal ever given, the sales person also needs to not only sell the car to you, they have to %26quot;sell%26quot; that deal to the sales manager. It%26#039;s hard for a salesperson to ask permission to give a car away, and a credit card from you says that %26quot;if we can sell that car at that price, you%26#039;ll leave a deposit and write this deal now%26quot; to the sales manager. It gives the salesperson an extra bit of leverage with the desk.

2. When you hand the credit card to the sales person you%26#039;ve just said %26quot;yes, I will buy the car if we can get that price.%26quot; To the salesperson, selling cars really has nothing to do with the car. It%26#039;s 99% psychology, and a credit card, or initaling your offer or anything that equals a commitment from you is a tool sales people use to get commitment from you.

Some salespeople will use the credit card to gain commitment, I typically find that it creates more tension and conflict at a critical part in the car buying process than its worth.

Theres a saying that goes, %26quot;The customer that pays the most is usually the happiest.%26quot; People that spend 3 months trying to squeeze every last penny out of the 14 dealers they have working against each other just trying to get the absolute best price will absoutly be miserable by the time they get a car, they will hate the person they get it from and be turned off by the whole buying process. If you%26#039;re willing to accept a fair deal and pay a fair price, buy a car and continue with you life. You%26#039;ll be much happier, than milking out a few hundred dollars and torturing yourself over the course of a few weeks or months. I%26#039;m not saying just lay down and pay sticker price (pay sticker, its quicker :) but if you allow yourself to pay a fair price and carry on with your life, you will have a much better experience, guarenteed.

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

STEVENML... is totally correct. Show me the money!

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

lots of bullshit answers.

A sales person at an autodealership asking for your credit card is just wrong. Showing his manager your credit card has nothing to do with buying a car. I would walk out of there and find a dealer who respected me enough to deal in good faith. your credit card is your business not theirs.

I have never been asked for my card and would get up and leave the minute they asked as my card is irrevelant to the purchase of a car exspecially if you%26#039;re paying cash.

Why do auto dealers ask to see your credit card during negotiations?

So that if you want to walk out, they %26quot;lose%26quot; the card until you talk to several additional take-over salesmen.

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn't Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

My cousin qualified for a job that doesn%26#039;t require him to handle money or company credit cards. He has the experience, and scored highly on all four tests that were given. But as soon as they ran a credit check and saw that he%26#039;s still paying on a number of college loans and owes $2,000 in credit card debt, he was denied the position. I feel the same way as he. How is a person supposed to rise out of their financial situation if they can%26#039;t get a good paying job? Having bad credit doesn%26#039;t necessarily mean that one is irresponsible, especially if he had been working two and three jobs to pay them off before it made a bad imprint on his credit. I feel bad for him.

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn%26#039;t Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

While not fair it is legal: Here is the law regarding this issue. Check under (a) 3(b)

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn%26#039;t Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

To answer your question, no it is not discrimination as defined by our Government.

Is it right, no, but that%26#039;s the way a lot of companies do business and it%26#039;s their right to do it. It%26#039;s called at will employment, which means that they can hire and fire people at will for no reason at all.

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn%26#039;t Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

Since Discrimination is such a loosely-defined term, this is a tricky question to answer. In the legal sense, the answer is generally no.

A good number of employers these days run credit checks on applicants, as some view potential employees a theft or fraud risk if they have a given amount of debt. The amount(s) are just about as loosely-defined as well.

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn%26#039;t Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

%26quot;Tip:Under the federal Fair Debt Credit Reporting Act, employers are generally forbidden to use credit reports for hiring or employment decisions unless the job is security-sensitive or the financial integrity of the applicant is essential to successful job performance. If such a report is made, ask for a copy to be sure it is accurate, together with the name and address of the credit agency supplying it. This way you may immediately be able to explain important errors that sometimes need to be corrected on credit reports.%26quot;

From: www.findlaw.com

That could easily be discrimination. If this person happens to be a member of a protected class, such as a minority, and the employer doesn%26#039;t want to hire minorities--even those who do well on the tests--they can use a credit score to disqualify certain people. It is very difficult to prove, but it%26#039;s possible.

The way to prove it would be to see if people who are not members of the protected class, who haven%26#039;t done as well on the tests, and who have credit as bad or worse than his, have been hired by that company.

This would require a subpoena. But if the company was threatened with a subpoena, they might settle out of court.

The thing for him to do is get all the information he has together, and make an appointment with a lawyer working in the area of employment discrimination.

Any halfway decent lawyer will sit down for an hour and give a person a free consultation, especially if that person indicates on the phone that they might have a case.

If he has no money, he might try going to the nearest law school. They often have a legal clinic.

Additional facts: 75% of Americans have false and damaging information on their credit reports. It is possible to change one%26#039;s report, but increasingly difficult, due to the large number of requests for investigations pouring into the major credit reporting agencies.

Employers cannot %26quot;hire and fire at will%26quot; in defiance of the Civil Rights Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other applicable laws.

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn%26#039;t Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

Unfortunately this is getting to be a more commonly used criteria for hiring for high paying jobs and not just ones that handle cash for example. Credit scores can tell you alot about a persons habits and not just about there honesty. For example, A person who agrees to pay 50 dollars a month on a credit card and misses a payment either misappropriated funds, couldn%26#039;t afford to make the charge, or made a impulsive purchase to create the debt rather than living on what they make or is unreliable to do as Agreed and his word or that paper affected his reliability. Although you are not handling money per say when you work for an employer and don%26#039;t show up for work. He loses money. People with good credit statistically miss less days of work and are more prudent with work resources just as they are with their own because they appreciate the value of their word or worth. IE Your credit score. Not exactly the answer I wanted either but I took a credit class and they said your credit score tells a person you honesty, punctuality, reliability, dependability, and other traits a high paying position is looking for. The more they are paying you the more they loose if you quit, miss work don%26#039;t perform or lack in performance as to what you promise to do for them. Hope this helps. It did me cause I realized the value of my credit score and doing my best to repair mine and become a man of my word in promise when I sign that credit purchase as when I promise in person with my mouth or collateral. Credit = Your Word There is NO Collateral

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn%26#039;t Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

no it is not against the law -- but i do believe it is totally wrong!!!

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn%26#039;t Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

Not discrimation, is it right? ummm I don%26#039;t think so, but companies definately do it. Tell him to hang in there and pay off credit card and student loans. Financial problem can cause problems at work even if he doesn%26#039;t work with money. I too, feel for him, but he can dig himself out of this and tell him to be upfront when interviewing with an employer....I have these loans out and I%26#039;m being responsible towards my debts.

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn%26#039;t Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

I agree with Spifiman...It%26#039;s not discrimination at all. It%26#039;s not fair that a lot of qualified people get passed up all the time because of bad decisions that were made in the past. Nevertheless, it is what it is. When I got my underwriting job, they ran my credit. and luckily I didn%26#039;t have anything that kept me from it.

Companies that handle large sums of money, have to protect their investment from the risk of embezzlement. And even though it might not even be the case, people with bad credit are naturally suspected higher than someone that has perfect credit. It%26#039;s like having a convicted felon that works in a bank even though it was non violent. But there are good jobs out there that don%26#039;t require you to handle money. But it%26#039;s always good to try to improve your score so that these type of things don%26#039;t ever come up.

Is it Discrimination If One Doesn%26#039;t Qualify For a Job Strictly Because of Their Credit History?

No... it is very common for an employer to pull a credit report as part of the background investigation, and hire based on it.

The government does this as well.

The financial stability is very important, as someone that is in debt trouble is more likely to steal, or be undependable.

We are preapproved for a home loan and have a credit card question?

Okay, so we have gone through the process to buy a home...preapproved through a bank for a mortgage loan, found a home, did the offer, and the inspection was just finished Friday. Our closing day is June 20th and in the beginning of May we went on vacation and fixed something where we currently live that used our credit limit of $1000. Our realtor said the next credit check the bank will do will be 24 hours prior to closing. Will the credit card keep our loan from going through?

We are preapproved for a home loan and have a credit card question?

Hopefully not! Your realtor may not be correct about that credit check. I have closed over 450 loans in the past, and I have never pulled an additional credit report 24 hours prior to close. Typically, once your lender has your credit report, they would only need a new one if 120 days pass or if a borrower is added to or removed from the loan.

Additionally, this $1000 credit card may not have reported at all yet. Even if it did, the payment on the credit card is very likely too small to impact your qualifications. That said, if you were only 1 or 2 points in your credit score away from not qualifying, you may have reduced your score enough to no longer qualify. Your lender representative should have advised you against making any additional purchases before closing just to be safe, but I think you are probably at very little risk of losing your loan. Opening or using a single, $1000 credit card is not a very large change in the scheme of things. If you went and purchased an expensive car with a $800 payment that would be a very different situation. But for now I think you can relax. Remember- worry is interest paid on a problem before it is due!

We are preapproved for a home loan and have a credit card question?

The generally accepted margin that the lender will look at in regards to your current credit standings is 80%. That 80% means that if your credit cards and other financial burdens are above 80% of their limit, it is damaging against your credit score as you apply to get the house.

If the debt on the credit card is only $1000, it shouldn%26#039;t be a big deal for you to pay off enough of it. Also, if this is your only major debt that you owe to, and the rest of your credit is in good shape, you%26#039;ll be fine.

We are preapproved for a home loan and have a credit card question?

i dont know, it depends if u pay it late.. just make the minimum monthly payment and u shouldnt have any problems.

We are preapproved for a home loan and have a credit card question?

Actually very few lenders would re-run your credit report the day before closing. My guess is that your agent told you that to scare you into not screwing up his commission by going out and applying for a new $5000 credit card at your local Furniture Barn.

Assuming you already had that credit card, you%26#039;ve got nothing to disclose. It%26#039;s generally understood that people use their cards. Opening a new one should be disclosed, though.

Also, credit reports are often 30-60 days behind on their information.

Plus, $1000 on a credit card translates into only $20-30/mo. as a minimum payment on most cards. If your deal is so tight that another $30 added to your debts screws up your qualifying, you should be more worried about your ability to repay the loan than if you can even get the loan in the first place.

What mortgage rate & terms can I expect with 0 down and excellent credit?

I see this question over and over again on Answers when you have poor credit... what about with excellent credit?

I want a credit check with my loan... I want the best possible rate!

What kind rate of could I expect and where/who should I go to?

Which would cost me less in the long run, 0% down or a 20/80?

What mortgage rate %26amp; terms can I expect with 0 down and excellent credit?

I can do either the 80/20 or 100% with PMI, they price out very similar, it would depend on your financial profile.

I can do 5.875 100% with PMI.

January 14, 2008

http://WeFixRates.Com

What mortgage rate %26amp; terms can I expect with 0 down and excellent credit?

Depends on the price of the home and the loan amount. Rates vary day to day and are dependent on a few variables like income documentation, reserves, etc. Try your bank if your going to put money down, that%26#039;s more than likely where you will obtain the lowest rate. Good Luck

What mortgage rate %26amp; terms can I expect with 0 down and excellent credit?

Assuming you do not want to pay points,

Conventional: 5.875%

VA: 5.625%

Those were rates as of today. If you%26#039;re doing Conventional, it%26#039;s cheaper in the long run to do a 100% loan paying PMI vs. an 80/20. This is so because eventually the PMI will go away, whereas the higher rate 2nd mortgage won%26#039;t go away until its paid off. Also, through 2010 (for now anway) PMI is 100% tax deductible if you make less than $100,000 per year.

Be careful though when shopping lenders, don%26#039;t just shop for the lowest rate, shop the fees also. One lender may quote you a lower rate but be charging you more in fees to get it. Also, get everything in writing! Best way to compare apples to apples is by getting a Good Faith Estimate, which disclosures the terms, rate and fees.

What mortgage rate %26amp; terms can I expect with 0 down and excellent credit?

Right now, you are unlikely to find a 0% down loan, even with excellent credit. Unfortunately this is a side effect of the recent subprime credit crisis which also affects consumers with excellent credit. It is related to the falling home values and banks can%26#039;t trust the home value to be stable therefore they will be unlikely to loan if you aren%26#039;t able to put money down to secure the loan.

To find a loan you can call a mortgage broker that can run your credit once and give you quotes from several different mortgage companies, or you can go to a local bank directly. You are likely to get a slight discount and favorable terms with a bank you already do business with but I would still expect them to require a down payment in today%26#039;s housing market.

How does vacation resorts check your financial eligibility?

A certain poconos vacation resort that I%26#039;m considering booking require that my income must be more than 50k.

My question is, how do organizations like these legally verify that if i claim that I do make that much? Do they do a credit check or something?

How does vacation resorts check your financial eligibility?

They will look at your credit report. If your job is a janitor at walmart they can be pretty sure that you dont meet the income requirements.

How does vacation resorts check your financial eligibility?

when you book they will use your card and address to run a credit check.

How does vacation resorts check your financial eligibility?

I really dont know...but I know a site I go under for stuff it might have that info on it. Hope that helps! :)

If he doesn't pay will it show up on his credit?

My boyfriend just got a phone bill in the mail from 9 years ago. He didn%26#039;t even know anything about it, and when he did a credit check a few months ago for something else, that wasn%26#039;t on it.

His credit isn%26#039;t all that great, and we are trying to pay off other things to try and get back on track. I said we should just blow that one off..

I would think after that many years it already affected his credit and couldn%26#039;t do any more, could it?

Do they even technically have the right to collect after so long?

If he doesn%26#039;t pay will it show up on his credit?

This is an attempt to collect on a time barred debt. Many junk collection agencies will post his to a persons credit report just to make them pay.

You have a right to contest this entry and have it removed. There are procedures you can do yourself to get rid of this problem.

Here are some links to find what you need to do and find sample letters.

The clock on debt will reset if you pay this charge off and will remain a negative for seven years from date of last activity (the date they receive payment).

If you decide to ride it out, then the clock is considered to start from the last month/year of delinquency (last missed payment).

Check your states Sol at the following link

http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/sol-...

If this debt is time barred, then just let it ride out.

I invite you to join the following Yahoo group %26quot;DontGetRippedOff%26quot; dedicated to helping those in financial trouble, Here you will find information to help you with debt collection agencies.

If he doesn%26#039;t pay will it show up on his credit?

Below is a link to the statute of limitations for unpaid debt for each state.

I am not familiar with what state you are from, but what it sounds like 9 years is more likely than not past the statute of limitations for collecting debt.

I would check out the link listed below for more information. This is probably a collection agency sending you this letter, tell them they are wasting their time.

Hope this helps!

If he doesn%26#039;t pay will it show up on his credit?

visit daveramsey.com to learn ur hard lessons from others mistakes.

DO NOT pay the bill until They provide proof of the bill and contract that HE signed.

this is a new way of scaming people who don%26#039;t owe the bills.

If he doesn%26#039;t pay will it show up on his credit?

They can collect on it. It%26#039;s a bill he made and he owes it. I applied for electricity and found that I owed a light bill that was 21 years old from when I rented an apartment. My brother was living there when I moved out and and he said he would take care of it, but he didn%26#039;t. I paid it because I owed it, it was in my name.

This didn%26#039;t affect my credit but it could have if they had turned it over for collections.

If he doesn%26#039;t pay will it show up on his credit?

while the statute is in place, the key date is the date of last acknowledgment of the debt. So if your boyfriend talks to them and he admits that it is his debt, that can be acknowledgment and the clock starts ticking again.

The best thing to do here is to dispute the debt (the notice is required by federal to state how and where) in writing and state that the debt is out of statute and keep all copies of the correspondence. If the collection agency is ethical (now stop laughing, most of them are), they will back down, if they don%26#039;t you may have to refer this to the FL Attorney General%26#039;s office.

If he doesn%26#039;t pay will it show up on his credit?

This would have only stayed on his credit for 7 years from the date it became delinquent. The company should have already charged it off. This did affect his credit score for 7 years, but no longer does. The statute of limitations is generally 3 to 6 years, so this company probably can%26#039;t still collect it, however they may still be able to depending on other factors.

Is this a new notice or the actual bill from 9 years ago? If the notice is recent, then your boyfriend should contact the phone company to discuss the matter. If the bill is 9 years old he might still want to contact the company, however the name has probably changed and he might not be able to find someone with any record of his account, in that case I wouldn%26#039;t worry about it.

If he doesn%26#039;t pay will it show up on his credit?

Several answers are mixing up two very important items.

The Statute of Limitations is the period of time a creditor has to file a suit against you. This varies by state, but if this is a 9 year old debt he is outside of the SOL in just about every state. If he makes payments on this at any time that COULD reset the SOL.

The other is the amount of time it can be reported on your credit report. This is 7 years and does not vary by state or can not be re-aged reguardless of if you decide to pay it. So even if you happen to pay it now, it still will not appear on the credit report.

Now, until a debt is paid a company can %26quot;technically%26quot; attempt to collect the debt. In your case this was bought by a Junk Debt Buyer who hopes that people do not know there rights and pays the bill. Even though they are no longer legally bound to do so. All you need to do is send this company a Cease and Desist Letter stating it is beyond the Statue of Limitions and the time it can be reported per the Fair Credit Report Act(FCRA). That they are to no longer contact you about this debt. Send it by certified mail and if they contact you again, other to say that they will stop, you can sue them for $1000 per violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act(FDCPA)

If he doesn%26#039;t pay will it show up on his credit?

%26quot;Do they even technically have the right to collect after so long?%26quot;

That depends. If they went to court and secured a judgement from a court of law, that never expires. If no judgement from a court was secured, the statute of limitations has expired and while they can attempt to collect you have the absolute defense of outside the SOL

If he doesn%26#039;t pay will it show up on his credit?

no collection agency are like id theft rings the more information they get the more they use against you

call a attorney have him write a letter

Credit checks????

Why do credit agencies such as Experian only ask for your addresses over the last six years?

Credit checks????

Actually, they ask you to provide your previous address if your current one has changed in the previous 2 years. If your current address is relatively new and they do not have it on their file they cannot verify your identity and thus cannot provide you with information in regards with your credit profile (to avoid identity fraud and preserve your privacy).

Generally, reporting agencies are not entitled to have your address on their file anyway and you can remove any address at any time from your credit profile.

Credit checks????

because that is the approximate amount of time that is relevant to your application . in the situation of bankrupcy one would be afforded a clearing of thier scoring after that period of time . the credit providers are happy to base their lending on a back dated view of 6 years to assertain the chance of regular repayment . people obviously change in their spending habits and a person that may have had some defults in the past is no longer subject to penalisation of this fact after 6 years .hence they only ask for a 6 year span of previouse addresses .

Credit checks????

Information on credit reports typically runs with a seven year limit. If you close a credit card account, it will not drop off your report until seven years after you%26#039;ve clsoed it. Anything beyond that is no longer relevant.

What can i do if a business submits a credit application i did not fill out without informing me?

a motorcycle dealer used info from a credit check sheet that i filled out to submit a credit card application that i did not fill out or sign. what can i do? isn%26#039;t this illegal?

What can i do if a business submits a credit application i did not fill out without informing me?

No, that%26#039;s not legal. Are you sure the application wasn%26#039;t an application for a loan through the company that also has credit cards? Double check that first, otherwise complain to manager and if in US, Better Business Bureau.

If I have not so good credit from the states can I still be approved for a small personal loan overs

Will they do a credit check from the states?

If I have not so good credit from the states can I still be approved for a small personal loan overseas ?

Oversea, still does credit check. The credit agency share their database. So they can still deny you.

Can owing money for a ticket go to collections or effect your credit in california?

i owe some money for a couple of tickets and im worried that it has gone to collections or that if i get a credit check ran that the balance will show. fyi: im trying to rent an apartment and they are going to run my credit. besides that i dont have any credit history, i just wanna make sure that this wont show up. HELP!

Can owing money for a ticket go to collections or effect your credit in california?

If you are talking about driving infractions, I%26#039;d be very surprised if the state of California used debt collectors to collect their debts for them. It seems like it would be redundant...because creditors use the court system to get their money. They already ARE the court system.

Tickets should NOT affect your credit but, may affect other things like, oh I don%26#039;t know...a warrant for your arrest maybe? Like going to jail if you get pulled over again.

It%26#039;s not smart to not pay tickets. You know that. I don%26#039;t need to tell you.

Can owing money for a ticket go to collections or effect your credit in california?

You mean driving violation tickets?

If you%26#039;re worried that you can%26#039;t rent an apartment, why not pay the tickets to get over with?. You owed the money, your responsibility is to pay back or get your driving license provoke. By then, you can%26#039;t rent an apartment without a driver license. Either way, you still have to pay.

Can owing money for a ticket go to collections or effect your credit in california?

Instead of worrying about whether it has gone to collections, why don%26#039;t you admit your guilt and pay up? If you did so in the first place, you wouldn%26#039;t be fretting about alleged collections, now.

Can owing money for a ticket go to collections or effect your credit in california?

If you did not pay it, yes it most likely went to collections.

I would contact the court where you got your ticket immediately. Even if you can%26#039;t pay the full amount they may make you let payments.

But trust me, they will hound you for the money and try to ruin your credit, this will haunt you if you don%26#039;t get it cleared up.

My DH had a fix it ticket for $10 for not carrying proof of insurance, but he was insured. All we got was the run-around where to pay it, it was a comedy of errors. Finally we get a letter stating it was now $500 from a collection agency and they were going to suspend his drivers licence, because in their words %26quot;We made a mockery of the court.%26quot; He tried to talk to the court clerk and they would only take the $500. So in the meanwhile the collection agency upped the amount to $1,500.

In a desparate attempt we finally found out who the judge of the court was and wrote a letter, with the proof of insurance, presenting just how rediculous this whole issue was over $10. We then got a reply, charges dropped, and a apology from the court and his licence was restored.

This I kid you not was a six month ordeal with collections calling, threatening letters from the DMV. It was a nightmare and they were not going to rest until they got their money, not just the $10 but all of the unreasonable fees bringing it up to $1,500.

Once you get this resolved please keep a copy of your payment because it may show up later on your credit report or if you get pulled over. You don%26#039;t want them to impound your car over something as rediculous as this.

Can owing money for a ticket go to collections or effect your credit in california?

If they are tickets for driving infractions, you may have more to worry about than your credit...you could have a couple of failure to appear warrants and possibly a suspended license.

And I can tell you that Los Angeles does use an outside collection agency.

Can owing money for a ticket go to collections or effect your credit in california?

California, as well as other states, does turn unpaid tickets over to collection agencies. California also will not renew a driver%26#039;s license with an unpaid ticket on your record.

Increasingly medical bills are being kicked over to collection agencies, and believe it or not even library fines.

You can always pull your credit reports yourself at annualcreditreport.com just to know for sure.

I'm getting ready to apply for an apartment and I have a credit score of 581. Is this sufficien

I called the office and they said the deposit depends on the credit check. I%26#039;m 21, a college student and live currently at my fraternity house and pay rent. My credit is bad and am currently workign to pay an auto loan and credit card off. What do you think they will say? Also, I make about 1400.oo a month and the rent wil lbe between 410-475$

I%26#039;m getting ready to apply for an apartment and I have a credit score of 581. Is this sufficient enough?

Your income should qualify, and as long as you have no evictions, you will probably get in with a deposit of one to one and a half month%26#039;s rent. It is hard to say. If the unit has been vacant awhile, landlords may be more lenient on the FICO score. I don%26#039;t know where you are located, but in my area (San Francisco area), usual deposit is one month, up to three months (the maximum that can be charged in California).

I%26#039;m getting ready to apply for an apartment and I have a credit score of 581. Is this sufficient enough?

I can%26#039;t say if you would qualify or not. I know for a lot of apartments (at least out here in California), a credit score of at least 700 would be desirable. Either that or they may check your employment history, as well as if you%26#039;ve been late on your auto and credit card payments. Those issues could affect your chances. If the apartment does approve you, they may try to get you with the cost of the deposit. But I don%26#039;t know what state you live in, so I can%26#039;t say for sure.

I%26#039;m getting ready to apply for an apartment and I have a credit score of 581. Is this sufficient enough?

Well thats a good question, thats not to low but is considered in the lower range. Ask about placing a higher deposit in lue of your credit being low, explain to them why your credit is low.

If your keeping your payments up and stuff your credit score should improve.

Usually rentals require you make 3x the amount of rent.

I%26#039;m getting ready to apply for an apartment and I have a credit score of 581. Is this sufficient enough?

I live in California I had a HARD time finding a apartment with my low credit score..Thank god I found a landlord who owned the complex I spoke to him and told him why my score was so low.I had to prove to him my income .He gave me a chance I am am grateful for that I have been here for 4 years now and never Have I been even a day late on my rent

I%26#039;m getting ready to apply for an apartment and I have a credit score of 581. Is this sufficient enough?

I%26#039;m a landlord....it isn%26#039;t so much the credit score...as it is the credibility of the person. Many people get into problems with credit (divorce ect.) and they still are responsible people. But those things effect their score. So, I%26#039;d say...prove to them you are worthy. Have good references. Show them how you%26#039;ve paid and are paying on time on other bills. Good luck, don%26#039;t worry.

Taking over payments? I have a buyer with bad/little credit?

I am selling my car in which I still have a loan on- granted it is a %26#039;06 car. Well, I have a really interested buyer with whom I%26#039;ve been communicating back and forth. She does not have good credit at all. I just called Lexus Financial (my lienholder) and they said that I could have someone take over payments (which would be transferring equity) but we would have to go through a process, which involves a credit check.

That scared my potential buyer away. And I am afraid that most people who are willing to take over my payments may be in the same situation. I%26#039;ve never sold a car so I honestly don%26#039;t know what to do. Can she get a loan from a bank or something?

And which banks or places is competitive with auto loans?

Taking over payments? I have a buyer with bad/little credit?

It doesn%26#039;t matter with whom she finances she will have to go through a credit check. I guess you got in over your head with this vehicle. You could just turn this thing back in to the dealership but you will have to pay for several things. I would be leary of anyone who was afraid to go through somewhere for financing. Also, do yourself a favor and DO NOT let her make the payments to you and then you make them to Lexus Financial. She could stiff you. Just find a cheaper vehicle, do a trade in, take the loss and realize that you just learned a valuable lesson.

Taking over payments? I have a buyer with bad/little credit?

why are you selling? in over your head? Cause you bough a stupid luxury car? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

seriously, just keep the car and pay it down. If its less than a year old you will never get what you owe on it.

Taking over payments? I have a buyer with bad/little credit?

your buyer should have the money in hand, either a bank loan or cash, and make sure you verify the authenticity of things like cashiers checks or money orders or anything like that. If they%26#039;re phony and you find out after you%26#039;ve accepted payment, YOU are the one left with the financial distress AND no car.

Taking over payments? I have a buyer with bad/little credit?

First off the people who gave you the loan are only looking out for themselves. They want to be sure they get paid.

If you sell the car as Take over payments, you are basically promising them that if the person you are selling the car to doesn%26#039;t make a payment YOU will take responsibility and pay for the car even IF YOU DON%26#039;T POSSESS it any more.

Think about this, you%26#039;ve basically GIVEN your car away and the person you sold it to may have a paper agreement to make payments, BUT YOU are still RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING SURE THE PAYMENT GETS THERE.

I%26#039;d definitely be looking for another buyer.

Make sure whoever purchase your car gets you a certified check, cashier%26#039;s check, or cash (make sure the cash is real and not counterfeit). Unless you are getting one of the three above, I would not let go of the car.

I would definitely recommend not listing the car as take over payments. It%26#039;s your credit on the line if you do.

A buyer who wants the car can get a loan directly from any bank or credit union. They can even apply for an auto loan at http://www.lendingtree.com for an auto loan. However I repeat, do not let go of the car until you can make sure you pay off any loan you have on the vehicle.

Good luck.

Dose signing a personal guarantee for a business loan show up in personal credit report?

the personal guarantee for a business loan shows up on personal credit report?

i mean more then a credit check inquiry?

how much will that lower my credit score?

Dose signing a personal guarantee for a business loan show up in personal credit report?

no, even if personally guaranteed, a business loan will usually NOT show up on your personal credit report as long as you don%26#039;t default or pay late.

a credit check (inquiry) may be pulled- but the loan itself will not show up.

an inquiry on your credit report will cost your FICO anywhere between 0-20 points, depending on how often you have applied for credit recently.

Dose signing a personal guarantee for a business loan show up in personal credit report?

Yes. It is the same as co-signing for a business loan. Most creditors will want a personal guarantee if it is a new business with no prior credit history. However, you are still building business credit as well.

Dose signing a personal guarantee for a business loan show up in personal credit report?

the loan wont show up on your personal credit report unless you default

it will place an inquiry and will ding it just a little just like any other credit inquiry that you do

Dose signing a personal guarantee for a business loan show up in personal credit report?

A true business credit card is a line of credit that is taken in the name of the business, under the business%26#039; credit. Activity, whether good or bad, is reflected on your business%26#039; credit report through D%26amp;B and other financial institutions, and the liability for any debts incurred and bills owed is with the business.

However, some companies out there offer %26quot;business%26quot; credit cards which they require a person guarantee for. These institutions will often ask for a personal guarantee, and will almost always ask for a social security number from the person applying for the card. If this is the case, the credit card is not a business credit card, but is simply a personal credit card which is used for the business. The business is not liable for bills and debts - you are.

When applying for a credit card for your business, watch out for areas asking for your SSN (and not your TaxID or EIN) and be wary of any credit card that asks for a personal guarantee. By ensuring that your credit card is in the name of your business, you can help to build your business%26#039; credit, while avoiding creating problems with your own.

Many companies offer a list of credit cards that are issued under the business name only. Those lists typically run $300-$900, depending on the quality of the information inquiring. I would suggest starting your search online via google or yahoo. Search for %26quot;strong business credit%26quot; (just like that in quotes) to find services that sell the information.

How can I rent an apartment with not so great credit?

I want to move into a new apartment but I know their will be a credit check and I dont have great credit(I know I have a charge-off), but I can definitely pay my share of the rent its only $400/month. What can I do to persuade the landlord I should be in that apartment?

How can I rent an apartment with not so great credit?

I agree with the other poster. If you offer a larger deposit or have co-signers you will probably be ok. Just explain to the LL what happened and what you%26#039;ve done to correct it. Perhaps show how you%26#039;ve been paying on time every month since your credit glitch. Provide a reference from your last LL?

Just be honest about it.

Good luck!

How can I rent an apartment with not so great credit?

Offer a large deposit!

How can I rent an apartment with not so great credit?

Offer 3 months plus 1 month security rent in advance. That will do the trick.

How can I rent an apartment with not so great credit?

Big deposit, offer to pay a few months in advance, or get someone to co-sign the lease with you.

How can I rent an apartment with not so great credit?

Offer a large deposit or find a landlord that doesn%26#039;t check your credit history, mine didn%26#039;t and he let me rent out my first apartment. Which is going successfully, if I may add.

How can I rent an apartment with not so great credit?

Usually they will have you pay 3 times the rent as a deposit. Why don%26#039;t you go and talk to them? Good luck!

How can I rent an apartment with not so great credit?

not all rental properties do a credit check. try and find an %26quot;apartment house%26quot; instead of an apartment complex. complexes are usually owned by large companies and require credit checks. apartment houses are usually owned by private landlords and a lot of times dont bother with a credit check. in case you dont know what i mean when i say apartment house, i mean a private house that has been converted into individual apartments. neither of the last 2 apartments i rented did credit checks OR checked my references. neither of the places my sister rented in the past few years did credit checks either. also, be upfront. tell them if they do check your credit that it isnt great but you%26#039;ve never had a problem paying rent. paying rent is your top priority. in other words, suck up big time.

How can I rent an apartment with not so great credit?

Offering a large security deposit can be risky depending on the rental laws in the state/country you live in. I know in the State of Masschusetts it%26#039;s against the law to ask for first, last, and security, and lock and key. Other than that it%26#039;s against the state law, therefore many landlords are risky to take in more.

A good way to find information about tenants rights and responsibilities is to go to your state%26#039;s website and review the information (If you live in the US).

If you have sufficient funds to renting an apartment then you should be able to provide proof of income to the landlord. Showing your income is more than enough to pay rent.

You should have references, prior landlords, family members, and others that can state that you are trustworthy and will be able to provide rent on time every month.

You might at times need a co-signer. I know many apartments complexes I talked to about bad credit, state that you will need a co-signer. So that if you default, then they will go after the co-signer for the payments.

A good way to is to have money put away in accounts such as CD%26#039;s, High yield savings, account, etc. So that whey they ask how will you pay rent with your credit situation you can provide them with a list of %26quot;saved up money.%26quot;

One last thing is to find privately owned apartments. Many apartments in my area are owned privately by landlords and they do not bother to do a credit check, or if your credit is bad then they won%26#039;t make a big fuss. (Opposite of an apartment complex).

Good Luck.

Can I still rent a house/apartment with a low credit score?

Do landlords always do a credit check? Will I ever be able to rent with a low credit score? What are my options?

Can I still rent a house/apartment with a low credit score?

Most apartment complexes check credit. Most landlords do as well, but not all.

Before you apply ask them. Maybe you can even try explaining your situation.

In the meantime, fix your credit!

Can I still rent a house/apartment with a low credit score?

landlords do give credit checks but you can still rent an appartment with a low credit score i am right now and mine is nice

Can I still rent a house/apartment with a low credit score?

Large apartment complexes usually check your credit. Small complexes may or may not. Private landlords don%26#039;t always check your credit. They rely more on rental history. You can still rent an apt. with low credit. Sometimes the deposit may be higher. it varies.

Can I still rent a house/apartment with a low credit score?

Yes, its possible to rent with a low score or even a bad score. The renter industry answer is the equivalent to a co-signor for a loan.

The Guarantor of tenancy form and an application from an individual with good credit, assets and enough income to cover will get you the apartment.

How can I rent a house or an apartment in Twinsburg, OH without getting the run around because of po

I%26#039;ve spent the last two years traveling due to work. Needless to say, by the time most of our mail catches up with us, we are already in collections. We always pay online when we can, but there are occassional bills that just can%26#039;t be paid online and somehow just slip though cracks. Now that we are in a position we don%26#039;t have to travel anymore, we want to rent a house and get settled so we can call in a bankruptcy lawyer and finalize the debts to be paid off.

The only problem we are running into is that when our credit gets run, a) we are denied b) they are requesting such massive amounts for the deposits (I%26#039;m talking six months rent as deposit plus rent plus pet deposit) or c) we just never hear from them again... after they take our money for the credit check. This is getting too expensive to keep getting credit checks run if all they%26#039;re going to do is say no or ask for $10,000 in deposit. For that amount, I could easily just get a home loan even with poor credit. Any ideas?

How can I rent a house or an apartment in Twinsburg, OH without getting the run around because of poor credit?

Don%26#039;t live in Twinsburg...it%26#039;s trying to be an uppity town anyhow. I would imagine if you found a house to rent you would be better off. If your renting from the sole owner of the house, I would imagine if you gave them some proof of employment status and monthly income they wouldn%26#039;t be nearly as discriminate as the large apartment corps. are. I really need a laptop for school but have horrible credit. any ideas?

i finally went back to school and i really need a lap top for my classes but i really messed my credit up bad when i was younger. i was wondering if there are any student loans or what not that do not perform a credit check?

I really need a laptop for school but have horrible credit. any ideas?

Depending on the amount of financial aid (grants, scholarships, or student loans) you have been granted and the cost of your tuition, you could use any of the excess funds to purchase your laptop. That%26#039;s what I did when my Stafford loans were released after the start of the fall semester.

As far as student loans that do not perform credit checks, you can apply for the Stafford loans - subsidized and/or unsubsidized. For both loans, the payments are deferred until 6 months after you graduate, and the only difference is that the subsidized loans do not accrue interest while you are in school and the unsubsidized loans acrrue interest from the day the loan is disbursed. The current interest rate on the loans is fixed at 6.8% ... If your credit is messed up, these are the best loans to get b/c credit is not an issue, and they actually will give you good credit lines on your credit report.

Hope this helps ...

I really need a laptop for school but have horrible credit. any ideas?

bluehippo or go to your local rent to own store

I really need a laptop for school but have horrible credit. any ideas?

Don%26#039;t allow yourself to get ripped off! Do NOT give out any personal data to anyone on here!!! Talk about con artists, wow! Don%26#039;t fall for that garbage. And, rent to own is NEVER a good idea either. You will pay far more for anything at one of those places than the item is worth. Check it out and do the math.It will amaze you that people could ever get away with running these scam businesses. Your best bet is to save up the money, or get a co-signer to help you to finance it through egitimate means such as a bank. But remember if you default on a loan from a bank and you have a co-signer, that persons credit also suffers. And they will go after them for the remaining payments. Something to think about.

I really need a laptop for school but have horrible credit. any ideas?

I know it is easy to get a laptop from dell.com. Thats where I got mine and I have bad credit. The interest rate is not the greatest, but at least I got one.

I really need a laptop for school but have horrible credit. any ideas?

Student Loan can be sought through many different avenues. It all depends on your personal credit rating. The biggest challenge is finding one that offers the lowest interest rate. There are various routes to explore when seeking out a bad credit student loan and I would suggest that your first port of call would be the school for which you are about to attend. You will need to fill out a FAFSA form in order to initially apply for a federal loan. Perkins loans are combined school and government funds. A combination loan may be another alternative way of acquiring a bad credit student loan. This type of student loan enables you to consolidate%26lt;!--any existing loans that you have whilst applying for a new tuition loan. The only drawback to this type of loan is that you may need someone to co-sign.Another way to get a bad credit student loan is to get a co-signer. Maybe a family member with good credit would help. This way you could get loans with more attractive interest rates and terms, in spite of your bad credit. You may find the student loan here,

http://best-loans.awardspace.com/student...

Finally, if all else fails you will need to contact banks and financial institutions. They will more than likely be happy to lend you the money, but it will be on a higher interest rate than usual. When you have bad credit the banks will check out your personal credit score first and then offer terms based on the credit rating assessment. Take heart, even if your bad credit student loan is set at a high interest rate, numerous--%26gt;student loans defer your payment until you have finished college. This in turn will allow you time to improve your credit rating and when you leave college you could then look into consolidating your bad credit student loan at a better interest rate. This will mean your monthly payments will be at a lower level and therefore more affordable.

Looking to get an instant loan of $1500-$2000. My credit is not good. I am looking a lender who does not do a?

I can confidently predict that the only lenders who will give you that much money without a credit check are the kind who are willing and able to break both your legs if you don%26#039;t repay them. I suggest you save the wear and tear on your extremities and forget about the loan.

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

My boss called me today and fired me because they did a background check on me. I have been working for them for a year already and employment was supposed to be subject to a background check and credit check. However, a year later, they fired me. Can I sue them and win?

Here%26#039;s the catch, they hired me as contract labor and had me fill out the tax form stating so when they hired me.

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

Your employer is more than likely a dirtbag if he had you fill out the 1099 because that just means he is too lazy to take care of your witholding and is probably trying to beat workers comp. It really doesn%26#039;t matter how they hired you though.

An employer has no obligation to keep an employee who they have reason to believe may be detrimental to the business. In your case, if you try to sue, it will more than likely be thrown out because #1 you understood from the start that your employment was subject to a criminal background check and #2 your employer was justified in firing you because you have a history which demonstrates your ability to be destructive to the business.

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

No chance...just cause it took them a year to get the rag out....can you get it expunged....ask a lawyer....1099 sux

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

If you want to spend a lot of money and risk getting nowhere,go ahead.

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

They can fire you if they want to.

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

Depends on what state you live, the hiring and firing laws are very different from state to state. With living and Ca. and spending 6mo. in Texas I found these 2 states are very different in these laws.

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

As a contract laborer, you weren%26#039;t even an employee. If you lied on your original application, they could sue you for fraud, so you better just move on quietly.

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

If in your employment papers it says that they can do future background and credit checks as well, then you will lose. With some branches of the federal gov%26#039;t. for example, you have to maintain a clean background check and good credit(credit b/c they say that you are more likely to take a bribe if you have bad credit). It all depends on the agreement that you made when you started.

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

No

If an employer fired me for a background check done after a year of employment, can I win a lawsuit?

where do you get anything they did was wrong? you said employment was based on a background search.there is no limit on when the have to use the search. they fired you for what was found in you background. that is perfectly legal.what in the world would you sue them for?what is the deal with contract labor, what is supposed to be wrong with that. you signed a form agreeing . this just sounds all made up

How do I know who is running credit report on me?

credit check question

How do I know who is running credit report on me?

you get all 3 credit reports. you can get a free ones from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i...

it will tell you all the company%26#039;s that have looked at you credit reports. with the exception of those company%26#039;s that offer you pre approved credit, and the creditors you already have (and those checks do not count against your credit score) they are required to notify you in advance that they are running a credit check. you can pretty much grantee anyone who asks for a social from you is going to run one. (although all employers require a social, not all check your report, and they have to ask or notify you in advance.)

How do I know who is running credit report on me?

The best way to find out who has been running credit checks on you is to obtain your own credit profile from each of the credit agencies and it will show you.

How do I know who is running credit report on me?

No one is supposed to run a credit report on you unless you have signed something giving your permission.

I want to know is it illegal for an employee to inquiry about my credit report,?

i went to human resource and they told me that they have never done a background check or a credit check on anyone because its not require for them to do so, however i have 2 inquiries on my credit report within 3 months from my employer is this discrimation

I want to know is it illegal for an employee to inquiry about my credit report,?

It is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act to access credit without consent, barring criminal investigation under warrant. Every time, however, that your credit is checked, it is required for the credit center to send you written notification of your credit check.

It is not discrimination, however. People use that word way too much, and use it incorrectly. It is discrimination if no one else in the office experienced the credit check, and there is something that differentiates you from others in the office that is covered under federal and state laws.

It is illegal and punishable not only under criminal action but also civil action.

I want to know is it illegal for an employee to inquiry about my credit report,?

you have to give them written authorization to do it.

I want to know is it illegal for an employee to inquiry about my credit report,?

no, it is not discrimination. It is regularly done for many job categories, especially anything civil service. It gives them an idea of how responsible you are.

I want to know is it illegal for an employee to inquiry about my credit report,?

It%26#039;s not illegal not at all some companies do that some not...

I want to know is it illegal for an employee to inquiry about my credit report,?

IT IS ILLEGAL WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT

I want to know is it illegal for an employee to inquiry about my credit report,?

Contact the Bureau Of Labor and Industry (BOLI) about the matter. It wouldn%26#039;t hurt to get yourself a lawyer.

How can I tell whether I'll be approved for a mobile phone contract without it affecting my cre

I%26#039;ve heard that if I go for a contract and have a credit check%26gt; if it fails it will affect my credit rating again. Basically I want to know whether I%26#039;d be approved without going through with the credit check. Any advice on the matter at all would be a great help.

How can I tell whether I%26#039;ll be approved for a mobile phone contract without it affecting my credit rating?

Don%26#039;t apply for anything for 3 years. Everytime you apply you will have to restart counting the years.

So if it%26#039;s been more than 3 years since the CCJ and you have not aplied for anything since you should be ok. This is not authorative answer btw. Just my experience.

How can I tell whether I%26#039;ll be approved for a mobile phone contract without it affecting my credit rating?

it will only affect your credit rating if you apply and it fails and you try again within 3 months. the first try will not affect it. it is widely accepted that people have 12 credit applications a year, one every month. any more is considered high.

try once and if it fails, just leave it a little while longer.

Don%26#039;t try Vodafone, they are hard to get one with if your credit is a little shoddy, i recommend you try 3 or T-Mobile.

How can I tell whether I%26#039;ll be approved for a mobile phone contract without it affecting my credit rating?

Getting a mobile phone is harder then getting a home loan. Especially with a bad credit rating. If you have defaults on your rating then you can bet your bottom dollar you will not get a mobile phone. They will not accept any defaults.

If you do apply for one and are declined it will show up as a declined application on your rating and could affect your credit future.

Hope that helped!

How can I tell whether I%26#039;ll be approved for a mobile phone contract without it affecting my credit rating?

Go with virgin mobile. They are prepaid, so no credit check, and have plans like regular companies. They also have really cool phones. I have the switchback and love it. I have been with this company for over a year now. The link is:

www.virginmobileusa.com

How can I tell whether I%26#039;ll be approved for a mobile phone contract without it affecting my credit rating?

If you have no CCJ%26#039;s, you are registered to vote, you pay your credit card/loan on time, have no financial arrears, have a current account with debit card (Maestro or Delta) and a credit card. The chances are you will get a contract phone without any problems.

You could still get one if you can%26#039;t provide the above, but you increase the risk in you being declined or having to pay a deposit.

Are credit checks an invasion of privacy, discriminatory and unconstitutional for US Citizens in real

If you really think about it the financial institutions, US Government, etc. in times like these have you by the B%26#039;s. They are becoming high profile pawnbrokers that our legislaters have allowed by passing new laws on their behalf, not yours!!!

While at the same time our major banks and federal government have allowed numerous foriegn countries to default on their debts and forgive their debts and write them off!!(Billions of $$) On top of that the US banks and government give them new assistance only to have the same things happen again!!!!

Now do you think as an american citizen this is right? Isn%26#039;t charity suppose to begin at home unstead of taxing us to death paying for the banks and government blunders, which become more excessive every year? How about help for the average US worker who lives from pay to paycheck , who has no choice except credit to survive until the banks and government suck the life out of you and leave you high and dry !! Stop the madness, Help US citizens!

Are credit checks an invasion of privacy, discriminatory and unconstitutional for US Citizens in reality?

Damn good question. But who%26#039;s looking at the Constitution now? And those whodo a bit twist it to suit their needs, be it for elections or for habeas corpus. Seen what Alberto is doing with it?

Are credit checks an invasion of privacy, discriminatory and unconstitutional for US Citizens in reality?

%26gt;%26gt;the average US worker who lives from pay to paycheck , who has no choice except credit to survive until the banks ..%26lt;%26lt;

Umm, no.

Sorry, but those who live %26quot;paycheck to paycheck%26quot; are not forced to. Maybe if they avoided putting that cool new plasma T.V. on their credit card, they wouldn%26#039;t need to live %26quot;paycheck to paycheck%26quot;. They have no one to blame but themselves for their credit card problems.

I cut all of my credit cards into confetti years ago.

Are credit checks an invasion of privacy, discriminatory and unconstitutional for US Citizens in reality?

My insurance broker comments on this all the time.

Same info, different credit ratings, result in a huge difference in premiums.

What affect it has on insurance, I don%26#039;t know.

I think credit info should only be released to an %26quot;asker%26quot; upon having the request approved by the target of the info. A copy automatically sent to the target at the same time,

Are credit checks an invasion of privacy, discriminatory and unconstitutional for US Citizens in reality?

Would you skip credit check if you own a apartment building and some bum in nice suit wants to move in? Credit checks are required for us to have conveniences like credit cards, loans, mortgages...etc.

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn't this an invasion of privacy??

if you or someon else is not in a fiduciary position, then why should your credit be available to all and sundry and there is not guarantee that this will enable you to get a better job....

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

It is not an invasion of privacy. Companys are allowed to do the background check as a method to protect them from loss.

Despite what people think, credit information is easy to get. People you do not know can get your credit information without your consent for marketing purposes.

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

I don%26#039;t care Im clean

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

no and it tells alot about your character

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

Its not an invasion of your privacy, because you dont have to let them check it, you can just do without the job, your choice.

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

I think it is..... but they do it to see if your responsible. From the best of my knowledge, they rarely %26quot;use%26quot; it, so why should they even bother?

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

I totally agree with you- this is an invasion of privacy. But, they do it to see if you have a propensity to steal. If you are in a LOT of debt, then they assume that you might have more of an urge to steal from the company.

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

You don%26#039;t have to apply so if you give them permission to check your credit then how can it be an invasion of privacy. I don%26#039;t really like it either, but. . .

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

The courts have said this is OK, If you can%26#039;t handle your own money how can I expect to to handle a job?

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

Credit can help employers see how you handle responsibility (The responsibility of credit). It%26#039;s not an invasion of privacy if you sign a release form, which you have to do in order for them to get the information.

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

This is often done as part of a security clearance. The main reason is if in any way you might have a responsibility involving money, you may be tempted to resort to fraud or theft if you are on the brink of bankruptcy.

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

Sure, it is an invasion of your privacy, but do some research and you will find that your privacy can be invaded for many reasons. Employment checking is just one. If you have bad credit, learn how to clean it up. Bad driving records and bankruptcy will also cost you.

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

Some employers want to know your credit history in order to determine whether or not you are reliable, trustworthy and not a high risk candidate.

Although it seems like an invasion, many companies don%26#039;t want to take a risk on questionable hirees. It costs a lot to hire and train an employee. Why not use every tool at hand to make sure that your investment will benefit your company?

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

No, it won%26#039;t guarantee you a shot at a better job; it will give your prospective employer something by which to guage your level of responsibility. And, there is theft and there is theft; if one is in a financial bind, one would be more likely to find a way to steal from the company whether or not one has access to actual company bank accounts and so forth. Would you want someone to be responsible for your business if that person cannot manage their own money?

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

One other thing i dont see mentioned is that you are more susceptible to things like being bribed or corrupt if you have financial problems. Actually i wish this happened more. Because i think too many people don%26#039;t maintain good credit. maybe if they knew it would impact their employment possibilities they would. i like to hear of this idea. i knew the military and peace corps did it but i%26#039;m glad other employers are, too.

Why is your credit checked for pre-employment. Isn%26#039;t this an invasion of privacy??

You have to sign a paper allowing them to check your credit and you have the option to refuse (may not get you the job but still a choice). They look for things like bankruptsy, evictions etc to see if you are responsible with your money, which may reflect that you are a responsible person.

I want to live in a privately owned apartment. Do you think they wil run my credit?

It is a small apt complex with 1 owner. He says that he will run a credit check and has very low rent. I was able to provide him a letter of reference from my roomate and my income and job. I am worried that prior credit will hurt me from 2003 even though i have been good on payments since 04.

I want to live in a privately owned apartment. Do you think they wil run my credit?

dont worry about about along as your stable now and been paying your bills and have money coming in they will accept

you..

if they say no try to negioate with them saying that was a rough time in your life

you alway can negoiate evey thing !!

I want to live in a privately owned apartment. Do you think they wil run my credit?

Most apartment are only interested on your payment history, not so much about your credit score. Also they look at how much do you owe and if you can afford the monthly payment with your current salary. Typically, your salary will determine whether you%26#039;re approved or not.

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

im renting with my boyfriend (he will be responsible for paying rent) i have a bad credit rating and worried it will affect us being aable to rent this house! Would it be ok if I had a guarantor with a good rating?

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

I have just rented a house in the same situation. I simply left my gf off the agreement.

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

Yes, but the credit reporting agency is only allowed to give past addresses and personal info of that nature. They don%26#039;t get to see the actual credit report with your accounts (or they are not supposed to anyway).

There are many landlords that don%26#039;t do credit checks.

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

yes they do check your credit rating, they did ours.

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

Yep, you sure will get credit checked. If your boyfriend will be paying the rent, why not rent the house under his name only? However, if you want to rent jointlhy, and you %26#039;fail%26#039; the credit checks, you can have your boyfriend (or someone else) act as a guarantor. I did the exact same thing when I rented ages ago.

It%26#039;s not just the credit score that the agency will look at though, they will also look at your previous 3 months bank statements...if you do get a bad credit score, but they can see that your outgoings are less than your incomings and that you are %26#039;good%26#039; to pay the rent then they will take that into consideration too. However, they will be looking for your ability to pay the WHOLE amount of the monthly rent and not just half of it. This is in case one of you defaults on the rent, they need to be sure that the other tenant has the means to pay it all.

Hope this helps.

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

Some letting agents do credit checks as they want to be sure they will get their rent. You may need a guarantor just to satisfy the credit scoring criterion.

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

no they dont check your credit rating all they check is how much your earning

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

it shouldnt matter what credit rating you have its up to your boyfriend but not all do credit checks any way so i think you will be ok good luck to your new home were ever it may be

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

Yes, you will have to get a credit check. We checked credit for people renting our house. But, it is not so much your credit score they are looking at, but your eviction history, if any. If your bf is responsible for the rent and he has better credit, you may want to tell them that he is the one paying rent and you%26#039;re just living there.

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

Really depends on the company you rent through. If you rent privately ( say through an add in the papaer) they only usually ask for job references etc., but a rental agency will do a credit check

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

Yes. I am a landlord and would always do a credit check as need to ensure that the rent is paid. A bad credit record suggests you have not paid someone in the past so why should any landlord take a chance? What would happen if your boyfriend does a runner or you fall out? Could you pay the rent then? Any tenancy agreement is 6 months for starters. Can he pay the full 6 months plus damage deposit up front? This will put you in a better light and get you started (and get a better credit record).

A guarantor with a good credit history would help a lot but he/she must realise that the landlord will come after him for any unpaid rent and costs to repair damage done.

Good luck in finding somewhere/

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

best way is to rent in your fellas name. get your credit rating up then go on the rent book.

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

As owner of rental property company, you and your boyfriend would be required to have credit checks as well as eviction checks and a criminal background check. We are very strict with who we rent to, although we do give a break if the credit score is not good. We look in detail to see why you got where you are with your credit history. If you had a guarantor, that person would need all the above checks as well. I don%26#039;t want a drug dealer paying your rent. Our policy is we rent to no one who has a drug or sexual conviction..... PERIOD!

Do you have credit checks when renting a house?

If you rent through an agency then yes you will be checked for credit.
