Can i get hired as a bank teller with bad credit?

After an interview with TD Canada Trust , they offered me a position as a teller but they told me they will do a credit check. Im a student and im also young so ive made mistakes before and have damaged my credit but not the worst case ,i%26#039;ve ruined my credit for $2500. Do you think this will keep me from working at the bank?

Banks do credit checks to determine your responsibility to maintain obligations and if you are a possible %26quot;threat%26quot; to gain access to quick, necessary cash. In your case I do not believe your credit will prevent you from being hired and a bank is an excellent place of employment for future reference.

Credit checks will be a part of your life at most companies. Larger corporations, banks, etc. will randomly check your credit each year. If you elect a military career as an officer credit checks are made and in the Navy every 2 years. Good credit history must be maintained throughout your life to continue in a lot of jobs.

No. They are simply verifying you are who you say you are.

If your credit is so bad that you might be desperate enough to try ripping off the bank -- then they will not hire you.

However, they know that nobody%26#039;s perfect and they wouldn%26#039;t expect your credit to be perfect.
