I am looking for a 3 bedroom place to live in illinois NW suburbs of Chicago. I do not have great credit but I must leave now...please help!!

Hey is this a common thing in US - landlords running credit checks? Here in UK, all you need to rent is the deposit and, in some cases, references. Ordinary folk such as landlords renting out their property do not have the means or the right to run credit checks on intending tenants. Renting property is not regarded as a credit transaction but as a civil contract between two parties

I doubt it,and if there is ,I would question it%26#039;s credibility. The main reason for running a credit check, is to determine your ability to keep up your rental payments. If you have a bad record of keeping up with credit card payments or you owe more to the credit card companies than you can afford to pay for rent, then chances are you wouldn%26#039;t be able to reliably make rental payments on a house. It is a reflection of your responsibility in handling financial situations. It sucks , but until you%26#039;ve cleared your bad credit rating,you might have a problem renting a place, unless you find someone who is willing to take a chance on you, based on a referral from a trusting friend to that person. But then you have to prove yourself worthy ,in order to not give your referral a bad rep with his friend. Good Luck.
