Can you move into a retirement home, (not a nursing home), when you become of age if you have poor credit?

Yes, you can be denied housing/residency because of your credit history. This is often a matter of state, as well as federal, law.

Increasingly, landlords are pulling credit reports for the permissible purpose of finding a potential lessee%26#039;s (tenant%26#039;s) history and ability to pay.

Moreover, every retirement home has a different policy, so you need to check with the firm controlling the facility. Ask them: Do you read credit reports from the 3 major credit reporting agencies? What is the minimum genuine FICO score that you require?

Even if you%26#039;re years from retirement, or asking for someone else, it will be helpful to ask.

Best wishes.
